Crispy And Spicy Prawns Fry Served With Garnishes

How to Make the Perfect Prawns Fry – Step-by-Step Guide

Prawns Fry is a quick and flavorful seafood dish that combines succulent prawns with aromatic spices. This dish is perfect as an appetizer, side, or main course, and it pairs well with rice, bread, or salads. The prawns are marinated in a blend of spices, then pan-fried to perfection, resulting in a crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 2-3 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g (1 lb) fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp oil (preferably coconut or vegetable oil)

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (optional)

  • 23 green chilies, slitΒ  (optional)

  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Prawns:

    • In a bowl, combine the prawns with lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the prawns evenly.

    • Let the prawns marinate for at least 15-20 minutes (or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator for deeper flavor).

  2. Cook the Prawns:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

    • Add chopped onions (if using) and sautΓ© until golden brown.

    • Add the marinated prawns and slit green chilies (if using). Spread them evenly in the pan.

    • Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through. Avoid overcooking to keep them tender.

    • Garnish and Serve:

      • Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves over the prawns.

      • Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or a dash of curry leaves while cooking.

  • Ensure the prawns are fresh for the best taste and texture.
