Ingredients
500g (1 lb) fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil (preferably coconut or vegetable oil)
1 medium onion, finely chopped (optional)
2–3 green chilies, slitΒ (optional)
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
Marinate the Prawns:
In a bowl, combine the prawns with lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the prawns evenly.
Let the prawns marinate for at least 15-20 minutes (or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator for deeper flavor).
Cook the Prawns:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add chopped onions (if using) and sautΓ© until golden brown.
Add the marinated prawns and slit green chilies (if using). Spread them evenly in the pan.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through. Avoid overcooking to keep them tender.
Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves over the prawns.
Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
For a richer flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or a dash of curry leaves while cooking.
Ensure the prawns are fresh for the best taste and texture.
